“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

I grew up in Gainesville, Georgia in a great Christian family and in a great church, Riverbend Baptist. At the age of eight, I trusted Jesus Christ with my life and accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. When I was eighteen years old, I enlisted in the United States Air Force and served on active duty for more than five years. During that time, I sensed God’s call on my life to enter into full time ministry.

I graduated from Shorter College with a BS in 1982; Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1985 with a Master of Divinity; and Luther Rice Seminary in 2007 with a Doctor of Ministry.

I have led Village since 1992. Prior to serving Village, I served the church as Bus Minister (California), Student Pastor (while in college) and as lead pastor. My first pastorate was at Mount Alto Baptist in Rome, Georgia and after seminary I returned to Georgia to lead Ball Ground Baptist Church for more than five years. I also served at Stonecrest Church in Woodstock, Georgia before coming to Village.

I am passionate about preaching the entire truth of God’s wonderful Word and have been doing so for more than 30 years. I have led mission teams to various parts of the world including; North Africa, Ukraine, Papua New Guinea, England, and Dominican Republic. I have led Village Church to be on mission not only across North America but around the world as well.

I married Beverly in 1982. She has faithfully been by my side through the seminary years and together we have four children. The three oldest are in college and their youngest is a freshman in high school.

I enjoy RV’ing, running, travel, and hiking. I am an unskilled golfer and have made threats on the golf course to just play ping pong!

My hope for Village is that we would be a community of people that seek to love God, be real, and share hope.  As we grow in holiness together, I pray that Village will take the Gospel wherever they go and glorify God with everything they do!
