We have an exciting weekend coming up! Saturday is the 4th Annual Resurrection Run, and on Sunday Dennis Jernigan will be here to lead us in worship at 9:00 and 10:30 am. He returns on Sunday at 6:00 pm with our choir to bring us to the throne of grace in a special concert.
Today, as I am working on Sunday morning’s message, I am looking at the topic of what the crowds expected of Jesus as He rode into Jerusalem. We all come to Jesus with different expectations. Regardless of those expectations, Jesus is KING of kings and LORD of lords.
As KING, He has a claim on our lives.
He made you! “Know that the Lord Himself is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” Psalm 100:3 (NASB95)
He bought you! “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NASB95)
He wants you! “If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them...’” Matthew 21:3 (NASB95)
This is a glorious time to be alive. And yes, Jesus wants you! It does not matter who you are or what you have done, whether you have tattoos and piercings, have been overcome in sin and rebellion, or even if you have clean cut self-righteousness; Jesus wants to give you his righteousness. That makes you right by His supreme sacrifice. You only need to ask!
As you enjoy this day, thank God for it! I hope to see you this weekend!
