Sermon Notes

Ever wondered just what the term “salvation” really means? In the message today, Steven Davies will address this topic using the great road trip to illustrate. As on any trip there are a number of signs which give direction, so there are in the Bible road signs directing our journey as followers of Jesus Christ. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.

Acts 4:12 (NASB)

1. THE ROAD SIGN OF EXPERIENCE
"But whoever did want Him, who believed e was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves." John 1:12 (The Message)

2. THE ROAD SIGN OF EXPRESSION
"Say the welcoming word to God—'Jesus is my Master'—embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not 'doing' anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation." Romans 10:9 (The Message)

• Faith

3. THE ROAD SIGN OF EXERCISE
"I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing." John 15:5 (The Message)

Prayer – Bible – Serve – Celebrate

4. THE ROAD SIGN OF EXALTATION

5. THE ROAD SIGN OF EXTENSION

"Don’t let this throw you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust me." John 14:1 (The Message)

"If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get His help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it." James 1:5 (The Message)

"Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you…" Hebrews 13:5b (The Message)

6. THE ROAD SIGN OF EXPECTATION
"If all we get out of Christ is a little inspiration for a few short years, we’re a pretty sorry lot." 1 Corinthians 15:19 (The Message)
