Sermon Notes

Today we will learn the biblical importance of returning to God what is God’s. We will discover through the exciting principles in this message how our lives can be forever impacted when we give first importance to that which is first in God’s eyes the local church.

WHAT IS THE TITHE?

• First 10% of income and gain

• Tithe is tangible witness that God is first

• Bringing a piece of ourselves back to God

"You may say to yourself, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your forefathers, as it is today." Deuteronomy 8:17-18

"Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."

Joshua 1:8

"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob Me. But you ask, ‘How do we rob You?’ In tithes and offerings." Malachi 3:8

"You are under a curse–the whole nation of you–because you are robbing Me. ‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.’" Malachi 3:9-10
