Sermon Notes
ineed2change When it comes to change, we want an easy formula; a 1-2-3, A-B-C type procedure that results in life transformation. But meaningful change is never that easy. There is no step-by-step process, because it’s not an overnight deal. Change requires much more. And there are some barriers in our way that we must face and ultimately overcome. Today we will look at some of those obstacles of change. If we truly want to change; if we really want to overcome the barriers, we must be willing to change more than our behaviors. Because true change begins when our thinking, not just our behavior, changes. |
We Cover, God Uncovers; What We Uncover, God Covers.
CHANGE
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. ‘Eat and drink!’ he says to you, But his heart is not with you.” Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)
CONFLICT
Past
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:7-8 (NIV)
Impatience
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
Pride
“They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up.” Hosea 8:7 (NIV)
“He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed.” Proverbs 22:8 (NIV)
GROWTH
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32 (NIV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
