Living The Life You've Always Wanted - #37 Sermon Notes Luke 14:25-35; Luke 9:57-62
Being a follower of Christ has its responsibilities, but also its requirements–rigorous and demanding. The big distinction between a nominal follower and a committed follower is found in one’s adherence to these requirements. Jesus is in the middle of a crowd and addresses these requirements to an individual. With these great crowds following, Jesus calls "anyone" (Luke 14:26). What a call...a challenge... ANYONE! What are the requirements for ANYONE?
I. NO RIVAL (Luke 14:26) "…so in all things Jesus has first place." Colossians 1:18 (NCV)
II. NO REFUSAL (Luke 14:27) "But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ and forget about satisfying your sinful self." Romans 13:14 (NCV) III. NO RETREAT (Luke 14:33) |
